The Patriots traded down from No. 21, a pick used by the chiefs on Trent McDuffie’s team in Washington.
That left the Patriots with the 29th option, and they used him on UT-Chattanooga’s offensive lineman Cole String. The Patriots also received picks #94 and 121 from the Chiefs in Thursday night’s trade.
Strange played six college seasons, moving from the Air Force after a season for the red jersey in 2016. He played 42 games for the left guard, one on the left tackle and one on the center.
Strange turns 24 on July 31.
