Three-month-old Brandon Cuellar poses for a photo with his mother Carolina Ayala on Wednesday – a day after he recovered from a 20-hour kidnapping
A woman accused of kidnapping a three-month-old is said to have become friends with the infant’s mother at church after noticing that she was seriously pregnant.
Carolina Ayala said Yesenia Ramirez, 43, made her way into her family’s life after spotting her with the huge baby bump, and is regularly invited to the family’s San Diego home after the birth of Ayala’s son Brandon.
“She used to go to my house a lot, and she always wanted to be there,” Ayala told KTST-TV, a subsidiary of Telemundo.
Brandon was kidnapped from his grandmother’s home on Monday by a man who police say was Jose Roman Portillo, 28.
They alleged that Portillo was encouraged to carry out the kidnapping on Ramirez’s orders. Brandon was found safely at a home in San Diego on Tuesday, as Ramirez and Portillo appeared in court Thursday for his kidnapping charges.
