“In boundless grief, we share the most caring and amazing football agent ever,” the family’s statement read.
“Mino fought to the end with the same strength he put on the negotiating tables to defend our players. As usual, Mino made us proud and he never realized it.”
The cause of death was not announced in the statement released by Raiola’s family on Saturday.
“Mino influenced the lives of many through his work and wrote a new chapter in the history of modern football. His presence will be lost forever.”
“Mino’s mission to make football a better place for players will continue with the same passion.”
Despite his success, Raiola has been a controversial figure with some unhappy with his outspoken nature and the amount of money he has demanded for the players he represents.
“So I’m not here to be loved and loved by everyone. I’m here to be loved by my family and the players.”
Raiola was born in Italy but raised in the Netherlands, where he began working in his family’s restaurant.
From there, he launched his career into a world he eventually began to shape, and became one of the most famous and distinguished agents in football.
