Stephen Curry and Giannis Antetokounmou stars in the Golden State Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks win 2022-04-28 05:34:18

In his first post-season start, Curry scored 30 points to advance the Warriors to the Western Conference semifinals where they defeated the Denver Nuggets 102-98, completing a 4-1 win.

Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo scored 33 points and nine rebounds to lead the Bucks to a 116-100 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

The Bucks also finished their series 4-1 and are now advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Warriors started their game slowly and found themselves eight points behind at the start of the fourth quarter, but after correcting errors, they won the fourth quarter 32-20 and edged out the Nuggets 63% to 53% from the floor.

Curry’s 30 points, five rebounds and five assists helped neutralize Nuggets star Nikola Jokic, who scored 30 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists.

Jokic, MVP, had huge solo performances throughout the series, but found a tough helping hand as Denver struggled in the absence of lead men Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.

Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokic wrestled in Game Five.

After two seasons missing the playoffs, Wednesday’s win was the Warriors’ first series win in more than 1,000 days.

“Tonight was just a weird feeling, because we haven’t been there in a while and we wanted it to be really bad and make it more difficult for ourselves, but we still remember how good it felt to do that,” Curry told the media after the match.

“The fourth quarter was about trying to find a way to get it done, get enough stops to speed up the game, put some pressure on them, and we were able to do that.”

“Everyone contributed, so it was a fun way to finish the game. It wasn’t exactly how you were going to draw it, it was a playoff environment where you could win and get out of here.”

Antetokounmpo scored 15 of his 33 points in the first quarter as the Bucks simply proved too strong for a depleted Bulls due to the absence of All Star Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso.

The defending champion qualified for the Eastern Conference semi-finals.

Their playoff series tied a 1-1 draw after two games, but the defending champions pulled out and won the last three games averaging 23.3 points.

“After the second game, the team knew what the deal was,” Antetokounmue told ESPN. “We knew what we had to do, we had to be desperate. We had to get out there and compete at a high level.”

“We have to do it as a team. It’s not a one-man show or a two-man show. Now we’re going to a different series, playing with a different team, a very good team, and hopefully she can do it again.”

The Bucks have targeted Bulls star DeMar DeRozan, having featured with him 27 teams — the most two-man teams in a playoff game in the past three seasons, according to ESPN.

DeRozan’s score was limited to 11 and all 10 field shooting attempts were contested.

Antetokounmpo and the second-seeded Bucks will play the Boston Celtics on Sunday in Game 1 of the upcoming playoff series.
