The American Meteorite Society and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency reported receiving reports of loud noises across Louisiana and Mississippi on Wednesday, April 27, around 8 a.m.

There have been reports from Baton Rouge, Los Angeles to Jackson, Miss..

MEMA said it confirmed with NASA that the noise was caused by a fireball. The agency added that the meteorite was said to have been parallel to the Mississippi River.

Officials also said there were no reports of injuries or property damage.
