Marvel will need a new director for its coming The Fantastic Four Movie. Director John Watts, who was previously associated with the project, has quit the project, citing the need for a break from superhero movies. The deadline mentioned this move on FridayIt was soon confirmed by Disney and Watts.

Watts previously worked with Disney on all three of its businesses Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies. WhatsApp was signed to direct The Fantastic Four Then, but after leading the entire Spider-Man trilogy, he seems to have decided he needed a break from the superheroes.

“Making three Spider-Man films was an incredible and life-changing experience,” Watts said in a statement to Deadline. “I am forever grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years. I hope we can work together again and can’t wait to see the wonderful vision The Fantastic Four Bring them to life.”

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that there was no bad blood between the director and the studio, saying, “The collaboration with Jon is on… Spider Man The movies were a real pleasure. We were looking forward to continuing our work with him to bring The Fantastic Four in the MCU but they understand and support his reasons for moving away. We are optimistic that we will have the opportunity to work together again at some point down the road.”

Disney announced The Fantastic Four In 2020, but the movie was No release date given.
