Gayle Dudley, a longtime employee of LongHorn SteakHouse in Georgia, has been named a “Grill Master Legend” after grilling a million steaks — one of only 14 employees to have the title — according to a statement shared with CNN.
Mario Roberts, Director of Communications at Darden Restaurants Inc. , the group that owns LongHorn Steakhouse, told CNN Dudley has worked on the site of the Columbus restaurant chain for two decades.
Dudley’s achievement was marked by a surprise party at the steakhouse where she works. Her co-workers, friends, and family gathered to watch her receive a $5,000 check and a special gold chef’s coat.
“I was surprised,” Dudley said in a statement. “To be called a Legendary Grill Master means a lot to me.” “What made me the happiest was that I had the opportunity to share it with my mother and see how proud she is.”
“I love people, and I love my co-workers,” she continued. “I love my guests too. Because at the end of the day, when they tell me they enjoyed a steak, it gives me the happiest time in the world.”
