“American Idol” winner Lynn Hardy is in police custody after being accused of planting a listening device in the home of a student at Louisiana State University.

The singer is accused of leaving an unnamed student dormitory listening device in Azalea Hall in order to “monitor her conversations”.

According to prison custody documents, “the victim advised that last night, while watching a movie with her roommate, he found a device, apparently a phone charger, under the victim’s photon.” After searching for the device on Google, “the victim found the device which they learned was VR-500 Voice Activated Recorder”.

Hardy did not respond to The Post’s requests for comment before surrendering to authorities this morning – but he did speak to his 737,000 followers on Facebook last night, saying that LSUPD had issued a “memorandum due to allegations made against me.”

Hardy, who won season 17 of the ABC series “Idol” in 2019 and is known for his songs “Save You” and “Flame”, wrote.

His post continued, “However, given the sensitive nature of this allegation, I humbly request privacy at this time. I have the utmost respect for the law and will assist in their investigation as needed moving forward.”

Hardy’s representatives told The Post they could not comment on the “pending investigation”.
