Aaron von Illinger, 39, was convicted in Ada County Court of rape and acquitted of forced penetration with a foreign object, according to court documents.

After a state assembly committee heard the apprentice’s allegations and unanimously recommended that von Ehlinger be censured and stripped of the powers of his office without pay. He was charged in the case later that year.
The woman was at the witness stand during von Illinger’s trial this week but left the courtroom while providing details about the assault, CNN’s KIVI reported
“I think it was a human reaction when I ran out of the room,” Ada County Deputy District Attorney Catelyn Farley said during a news conference Friday. “I don’t think anyone can have a human reaction.”
Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts said von Elinger’s conviction sends a message that “victims can be believed and that it is important to reduce barriers for victims to progress.”

The sexual encounter was consensual. John Cox, von Ellinger’s attorney, did not comment on the case when contacted by KIVI. Cox also did not respond to CNN’s request for comment on Friday.
Von Illinger’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 28, according to online court records. Bennetts said the maximum penalty for rape in Idaho is life imprisonment.
The complaint filed in court was referred to the accused only by her initials. CNN does not identify victims or alleged victims of sexual assault without their consent.
