Musk, who has repeatedly criticized Twitter for its extensive censorship, recently struck a deal to buy the platform for about $44 billion that he says he intends to use to promote free speech.

“Freedom of expression is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital city arena where matters vital to the future of humanity are discussed,” Musk tweeted shortly after Twitter accepted Musk’s big offer.

Truth Social is a social media platform founded by Trump Media & Technology Group versus Twitter, with the goal of giving users the opportunity to have an “open, free and honest global conversation,” according to its website.

The platform was created shortly after former President Donald Trump was permanently banned from Twitter and many conservatives migrated to it.

Many people were quick to criticize Musk’s purchase of Twitter, something he welcomed as he said he hoped his critics would stay on the platform.
