EarFun Air Pro 2 Review | CNN Undercover 2022-04-26 16:17:21

EarFun has quietly become a major player in the field of wireless earbuds, offering excellent sound quality at decidedly unparalleled prices. EarFun Air has always reigned for the company as Best budget headphones Choose, with other models such as EarFun Free and EarFun Air Pro as the mighty runner-up.

The EarFun Air Pro 2 It’s the brand’s latest high-end option, offering useful features like Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode for a very competitive $89, which sometimes drops even lower. After using them as main earbuds for a week, it turns out I’m in no hurry to go back for much more expensive Beats Fit Pro. Here’s why.

Great sound on a budget

The EarFun Air Pro 2 wireless earbuds are an excellent choice for budget-conscious shoppers who want good sound, great battery life, and decent noise cancellation for under $80.

what we like

Excellent sound, comfort and features on a budget

Mike Andronico/CNN

The biggest compliment I can give the EarFun Air Pro 2 is that after switching from the more expensive Beats Fit Pro, I don’t feel like I’ve sacrificed much in terms of sound quality and comfort. EarFun Buds injected my daily playlists with satisfying clarity and clarity, whether I’m enjoying walls of distorted guitars in my favorite punk tracks or bathing in the somber guitars and soothing calls of Phoebe Bridgers songs.

I’m often afraid to wear a cheap pair of earphones, but the EarFun Air Pro 2 sounds great. The soft silicone tips of the buds instantly formed a comfortable, secure seal in my ear, to the point where I never even thought of them because I wore them while walking and working long hours. And if you need something bigger or smaller, you can switch up with one of the three extra sets of tips that come in the box.

EarFun Air Pro 2 offers both Active Noise Canceling (ANC) to block out unwanted noise and Ambient Sound Mode to better hear your surroundings—two features you rarely find in a pair of earphones at this price. The headphones’ ambient noise capabilities were reliable to amplify the sounds of cars and pedestrians when I was walking my dog, while the ANC effect was very subtle compared to that of the Beats Fit Pro. While I wouldn’t necessarily rely on the Air Pro 2 for a noisy ride, I might appreciate having a certain degree of noise cancellation and the ability to let outside sounds in when I need it..

Lots of controls and great battery life

While I generally prefer earbuds that have physical buttons, I found the EarFun Air Pro 2’s pressure controls to be very reliable and spacious. With a combination of different flicks and taps, you can do everything from basic pause and playback to switch sound modes and even adjust the volume. I was especially happy with the latter, even expensive models like AirPods Pro No on-ear volume control.

Speaking of higher priced earbuds, the EarFun Air Pro 2 has some of the best battery life of any pair of wireless earbuds I’ve tested lately. After a full charge, the Air Pro 2 got me nearly three full days of intermittent use (while using a combination of ambient noise and active noise cancellation) before finally running out of buds and the case. I also appreciate that the Air Pro 2 case offers wireless charging – something you won’t find in other budget earbuds like pixel buds a And even more expensive models like the Beats Fit Pro.

What we didn’t like

Budget design for sure

Mike Andronico/CNN

The EarFun Air Pro 2 may beat more expensive competition in some areas, but it still feels like a budget pair of earbuds. Her long legs make her look like a black version of the standard The second generation of AirPods, which is a design that I generally find ugly and outdated compared to the world’s Galaxy Buds, Pixel Buds, and Jabra Elites. The plastic charging case is bulky, feels cheap and accumulated a good amount of smudges and scratches after a few days in my pocket.

The quality of the connection is not the best

The EarFun Air Pro 2 microphones will get the job done for quick calls, but I wouldn’t recommend choosing these earbuds for use in important business meetings. The recordings I took with the EarFun buds, were noticeably scrambled and distorted, despite my hearing. I received similar feedback when calling a friend, who noted that he was able to hear everything I had to say, but I also sounded distant.

If you can find them on sale, the EarFun Air Pro 2 is among the best budget earbuds you can buy. Sound quality and comfort rival more expensive models, and you’ll get some decent noise-cancelling capabilities and ambient sound for the price.

Those who want something more quiet and elegant at a similarly low price should go for $79 Jabra Elite 3, which also benefits from better call quality and a companion app to customize your voice. And if your budget is less than $50, that’s the norm Airfon Air – which offers a similar experience but without the ANC and ambient noise – we still have it Best wireless headphones Choose the conscious portfolio.
