The trial between Mr. Depp and Ms. Heard began on April 11 in Fairfax, Virginia, following the lawsuit Depp brought against his ex-wife in March 2019. Depp argues that it discredits him in a December 2018 opinion piece published in Washington Post Titled “I spoke out against sexual violence – and faced the wrath of our culture. That must change.”

Malcolm Connelly said he initially worked as a security guard for Mr. Depp, his children, and his ex-wife, Vanessa Paradis.

He said he first met Mrs. Heard in 2010 when she was in the UK to promote the movie drive angrily With Nicolas Cage before she met Mr. Depp. He protected her for a week and said she was “cute”. He added that he had never seen her again before she appeared rum notes with Mr. Deb.

Connolly describes the first phase of Mr. Depp and Mrs. Heard’s relationship as “beloved and lovable” and that Mrs. Heard was “beautiful and charming…as always”.

Then he said that things were starting to change and that she was becoming more “feisty” and “demanding”.

“I could see that Amber wanted to wear the pants in the relationship, that was pretty obvious,” he said, and that she could “get frosty at the drop of the hat.”

The security guard went on to have a few incidents in which Mrs. Heard threw objects, such as a lighter and a soda can, towards Mr. Depp. He said Mr. Deeb stood with his hands raised to show that he had nothing to hurt anyone with.

He added that he had noticed scratches or bruises on Depp, usually on his face. Mr Connelly said he was trained in the UK Prison Service to notice such things.

While he said he had not seen any injuries to Ms. Heard, he told Mr. Depp that it “started with a scratch now and then but it got more and more”.

The photo of Mr. Depp and Mrs. Heard during their honeymoon on the Orient Express from Bangkok to Singapore was shown in court. Mr. Connelly said he took it, noting that Mr. Depp had puffy eyes under his eye.

He said: “He entered the door, or a door entered him.”

Connelly accompanied the couple to Australia in 2015 when Depp cut his finger. Mr. Depp was filming the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie at the time.

He said that when he got to where Deb was staying, he noticed an SUV outside without a driver. He approached and heard “Muktoum” screaming and opened the door to find “Chaos”.

He said there was “screaming and screaming” and Mr. Depp was “being sick with one hand”, adding that Mrs. Heard was “angry” and Mr. Depp was screaming again.

He urged Mr. Depp to leave the situation, but when they came out, Mrs. Heard appeared again and was “shouting” at Mr. Depp, “Damn it, you coward.”

“His finger was just a mess,” Connelly said, adding that it looked like an “animation.”

“Everything fluttered around,” he said. “I could see a bone.”

When asked to describe Ms. Heard’s behavior, he said he was “crazy” and “ferocious”.

During questioning by Ms. Heard’s lawyer, Mr. Connelly said Mr. Depp had been paid directly for the past two years.

He said they exchanged gifts, and when asked if Mr. Depp had given him gifts worth $8,500, Mr. Connelly said, “He gave me so much more,” sparking laughter from the courtroom, including Mr. Depp.

Mr. Connelly was then asked if he was loyal to Depp.

“Yes, of course,” he said, “I am loyal to Mr. Deeb.” “I will be loyal to you if I work for you.”

In relation to what happened at the home in Australia, Ms Heard’s lawyer said Mr Depp was trying to urinate “in the lobby” and “get his penis out”.

“I think I’ll remember if I saw Mr. Depp’s penis,” said Connelly, to another laugh from Depp and those in court.

The court then turned on a recording of Mr. Depp from their time in Australia. He could be heard yelling ‘How are you attacking me’ and ‘You make me sick’. Connolly confirmed that Depp was angry at the time.

In her 2018 editorial, Ms. Heard wrote that “Like many women, I was harassed and sexually assaulted when I was college age. But I kept quiet – I wasn’t expecting complaints to get justice. I didn’t see myself as a victim.”

“Two years ago, I became a public figure of domestic violence, and felt the full force of our culture’s anger toward women who speak out,” she added at the time.

While Mr. Depp’s name is not mentioned in the article, his legal team argues that it contains “a clear implied indication that Depp is a domestic abuser”, which they say is “categorically and clearly false”. Depp is seeking damages of “not less than $50 million”.

Heard has filed a $100 million counterclaim against Depp for inconvenience and immunity from his allegations.
