Atlanta party biker charged with DUI after crash injuring 15 2022-05-01 17:03:00


Officers responded to a report of a traffic accident on West Peachtree and 14th Street in the evening and discovered a party bike that flipped while making a turn, according to the Press release from the Atlanta Police Department.

Party bikes, sometimes called pedal bars or pedal bars, are small bars on wheels that ride around towns. It is partly electrically powered, and controlled by a driver at the front, and partly by passengers who pedal while having drinks in the “bar”.

Initial investigation found that there were 15 people on the bike. Police said all 15 were injured and taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two passengers suffered serious injuries and three others are in serious condition, Jason McClain, chief of the Atlanta Fire Brigade, said. CNN affiliate WXIA.

Police said the bike driver, whose identity has not been released, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and also cited a work permit violation.
