A family from Tennessee claims that an Apple AirTag was used to track them during their time at Walt Disney World.
Jennifer Gaston said FOX 35 Orlando That the family was heading to their car on the monorail when they discovered the AirTag, they received a notification that the owner of the AirTag was tracking them. The Gaston family was visiting from Tennessee, according to WKRN-TV.
“We were terrified, confused, hurt and scared,” Jennifer Gaston said. “I literally watched her follow us off the tram all the way back to our car.”
Gaston’s daughter said the device had been tracking them for several hours during their time at the amusement park.
The family was unable to find the AirTag when they got to their car. Walk away and call the police.
Her daughter continued to track the location of the device, and it showed that it was still in the parking lot.
“While updating it, it showed that the AirTag was still in our parking lot, so somehow when we were frantically undressing and shoving everything out of our bags, it fell off,” Gaston said.
Apple AirTags are devices meant to track personal belongings in case they are lost, but they have been used by criminals in the past.
Gaston said the situation could have ended much worse.
“This story could have ended differently,” Gaston said. “Thank God we got the result we did, but that’s because she was diligent and aware of what to do.”
