The 58-year-old construction worker from Bowie was heading to his job on April 23 when he realized he wasn’t really needed that day, according to new version From the Maryland lottery.
So he stopped at TJ Beer, Wine & Liquor in Tacoma Park and bought three $10 tickets for Power 10s.
“I thought ‘Since I’m here, why not,’” the lucky winner said in the press release.
He rubbed the three tickets at the store and realized he had won a lot before heading home to tell his girlfriend and three daughters the news.
“They were all very happy for me,” said the unnamed winner, according to the press release. “But, you know, girls, they all wanted me to buy them something.”
The lottery said he took his $100,000 prize on Monday and plans to use it “to help his family, take care of his daughters, buy some necessities, and maybe take a vacation.”
