LA VISTA, Neb (WOWT) – A group of Nebraska senators launched a fund Tuesday to support “survivors and witnesses of Charles Herbster’s sexual misconduct.”

State Counsellor Lou Ann Linhan from Elkhorn, Johnny Albrecht Thurston, Susan Guest Lincoln, and Rita Sanders Of Bellevue, he said at a press conference in Hampton Inn in La Vista that they want to create a way to support any other woman who might be too afraid to come forward. The four female legislators promoted a website by saying ‘You are not alone’ – herbstervictimwitnessfund.com Solicit letters from potential witnesses or victims of Herbster’s sexual misconduct.

Two senators said during the press conference that they had received “intimidation” letters from Herbster. When asked about the details, one of them said they were asked not to delete related items from their laptops.

He faced Herbster, the Republican candidate for governor of Nebraska Accusations of sexual misconduct In recent weeks from many women including state senators. Julie Salameh of sterling. filter File a defamation suit Last week it was Compensated for sexual beatings by Slama on Monday.

Linehan said an announcement that the Herbster campaign it launched on Tuesday is intended to scare other victims from coming forward, making this fund and website essential.

The 30-second ad paraphrases the same points Herbster himself made His online press conference last week: It likens the recent accusations against Herbster to “lies stacked to spoil it,” referring to Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh and features a building somewhat resembling the state capitol made of jinga-shaped log blocks. The ad alleges fellow Republican nominee for Governor Jim Palin and Governor Pete Ricketts are behind allegations of sexual misconduct made by Salameh, which ended with “Jim Palin’s attack on Herbster, based on lies” via Palin’s photo and the tower portion of the log building turning into a pile.

“These are all threats and bullying. There is no legal action here,” Linehan said of Herbster’s defamation suit.

Acknowledging that the efforts behind the fund were “pooled,” Linehan said she encouraged anyone who might have experienced any misconduct incidents to communicate through the website and promised confidentiality to anyone who came forward. She said the four senators behind the box know how frightening progress can be, especially for young women, and want to create a way to support anyone who wants to.

The four senators supported Palin in the primaries for Nebraska’s governor, but said Tuesday’s announcement had nothing to do with him being his ally. Linehan said it was an expression of solidarity with their fellow senator. The Four Women and Slama–“we are five Republican women in the legislature”–often spend much of their time together working together on priority bills.

Speaking of Salameh “putting this on for so long,” the senators said there was no political gain for her from doing so.

“She stepped forward because she knew he shouldn’t be conservative,” Linehan said.

Guest said it would be “very difficult” to work with Herbster as Nebraska’s governor, saying that anyone who wins the election will need to build trust with the legislature.

Salama’s attorney issued a statement prior to Tuesday’s press conference referring to the latest political announcement from the Herbster campaign:

Charles Herbster released a sinister new political ad this morning, in an attempt to force sexual assault victims into silence. Herbster’s “Jenga” ad wrongly attributes Senator Salama’s account of Herbster’s sexual assault as part of a wild conspiracy. The Herbster ad promotes family members of Senator Salameh, and promotes a widespread conspiracy theory that other people are behind well-confirmed reports of sexual assault and harassment of 8 women and at least 3 registered witness testimonies. Charles Herbster is solely responsible for the harm he has done to Senator Salameh, and he will be punished for it in court.

Just as Herbster is held accountable for his frivolous lawsuit, Senator Salameh will take appropriate steps to hold him accountable for this latest round of slander against her. In the meantime, the media should carefully consider whether they want to continue broadcasting such content that is defamatory in nature. We call on responsible members of the Nebraska media community to conduct due diligence and compel Herbster to show a factual basis for the conspiracy allegations in this ad for the continued display of this ad.”

The Herbster Campaign released a written statement Tuesday afternoon:

“This is just another attempt by the Jim Belen campaign and the Ricketts Foundation machine to get rid of the mud at Charles W. Herbster ahead of the May 10 primary. The four Senators have received financial support from Governor Ricketts in the past and have been early supporters of Jim Beilin. It is a shame Just that they use such serious matters to advance a political smear campaign.

Charles will continue to struggle to expose politically motivated lies, clear his name, and focus on the issues he will deal with as the next Governor of Nebraska.”
