The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an armed separatist group from Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, has claimed responsibility for what it described as a suicide attack in a statement shared by CNN.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said a fourth Chinese teacher was wounded in the blast.
“The blood of the Chinese people should not be in vain, and whoever is behind this incident will definitely pay the price,” the ministry said in a statement.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif condemned the incident.
China is Pakistan’s close partner and largest source of military and economic support. But terrorist attacks targeting Chinese nationals and their interests in Pakistan in recent years have alarmed Beijing.

Located on the borders with Afghanistan and Iran, Balochistan is the largest but least populated province of Pakistan. It is central to the massive, multi-billion dollar infrastructure deal with Beijing, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In 2018, the Baluch Liberation Army announced another attack in which militants attempted to storm the Chinese Consulate in Karachi, killing four people. It said it would not tolerate any Chinese military expansionist efforts.
